Uncle Al

June 3rd, 2012 by Sloane | Print Uncle Al

Yesterday morning I found this dog…My buddy Tari suggested calling him Uncle Al after the local hot dog joint since he is a wiener dog….he wasn’t to much of a mess and doesn’t seem neglected..but had no collar..took him to get scanned and no chip…and yes I have posted in a bunch of places on line and will go by animal control today with a flier….

He seems to be fitting in pretty well here…I didn’t know what to expect from my two beasties…here he is laying on their bed room beds…

He was a little scared to bother JB on the living room bed….but at least he was napping…this little guy went nonstop all day yesterday…

He discovered that we have a ton of bones to play with…my pups didn’t seem to mind…but yesterday he was stashing them in a “secret” spot under the dining room table…when he got to bone #4 Sadie put a stop to it…nicely that is…she just herded him back in the room he took it out of and wouldn’t let him leave with it.

Last night…thank goodness the hubster was out late and slept upstairs….I was able to keep Johnny B up on the bed so he could get some rest…he was tired and cranky by the end of the day and kept snapping at the little buddy…

I get Al and Sadie each on a dog bed and off to sleep they go…well Sadie was a bit reluctant at first…WHO is this and WHY is he still here…2 hours later this tiny dog JUMPS up on my bed…not using the bench I have for this purpose..his legs are only a few inches high…geez…he’s a jumping bean..I don’t want him to think it is ok so I put him down in his bed again…he seemed happier when I tucked him under a blanket..but sure enough sprang up 3 more times during the night..Sadie wakes up every night at 3:30ish to make her rounds…so I wake up to her grumbling at him because he is on the move following her….and I might add he has gotten up and peed on her dog bed. Now I am up with the light on…I give him a nudge through the pet door and proceed to clean up the dog bed (thank goodness for it’s rubber sheet under the cover)..JB is totally miffed at me and is sitting on the bed with ears pinned back and giving me stink eye….I guess he is figuring out the pet door because he made it back in the house and lays down right smack dab in the MIDDLE of the two dog beds in my room….Sadie is totally bent out of shape and proceeds to go to the other side of the bed and lays down on a small rug…by this time I have turned off the ceiling fan which seems to have been part of Al’s problem earlier…he was cold… he is finally sleeping peacefully but now Sadie is tossing and turning…a big dog tossing herself around a wood floor is kind of loud at 4:00am AND she is grumbling and sighing…Good Lord! I convince her to get in the bed with Al and we actually get another 2 1/2 hours sleep.

Now it’s the morning…all 3 have had breakfast, no fights and Al seems to be catching on to the whole sit, stay routine at feeding time…he went out the pet door after eating and let Sadie poke and nibble on him for a while…

He seems to fit in well with my pack…so if his owner doesn’t surface…you know he will have a home here!

  1. He’s adorable! You might also check Lost & Found Dogs Virginia just in case. A long-haired doxie (which he sure appears to be) would be a dog someone should be missing. Doesn’t mean they are, though. Jeez but I wish folks would put tags on. You can check VBAC&AC when you’re over there to see if anyone called or posted, right? You are such a sweetie for giving him a safe place to be.

  2. Awesome dog indeed :) !! Love the way you taking care of that sweet dude. It’s really feels great he is now in safe hand and living happily. Thanks
